A builder at heart. Curious by default.

Kiruba Shankar Eswaran (Kiruba to almost everyone) looks for the things people put off because they feel confusing or slow, and makes them easy. Even if the impact is just 1%, it is worth shipping.

That thread has run through India, Portugal, the UK and the US.

In Portugal he co-founded Zaask, a marketplace that connects people with local service professionals. The name is a play on “just ask”. Zaask was later acquired by Worten, part of the Sonae group.

In the UK he was part of the founding team at Anorak, an online life insurance advice platform that is now part of Clark.

Today he leads Eleos Life, a life insurance provider serving customers in the UK and the US, built so that protecting a family is simple to understand and quick to arrange.

Outside work he is curious about almost everything, and space most of all.

You will find him as Kiruba Eswaran in the Portuguese startup press and as Kiruba Shankar Eswaran in insurance news. Same person, same curiosity.

01

Simple beats clever

If a customer needs a glossary, the product isn’t finished.

02

1% better, every day

Small improvements, shipped often, add up faster than big launches.

03

Curious by default

Ask why, then go and find out. Most good ideas start as a question.

Off hours, looking up

Forty-five known planets might be habitable. What would it be like to live on each one, and how would anyone get there?
